90th Anniversary of Neil Armstrong's First Flight in an Airplane Hosted by the First Flight Lunar Module and the Warren Heritage Center 2553 Parkman Road NW, Warren, OH 44485 Join us as we mark the 90th anniversary of six-year-old Neil Armstrong’s first airplane ride. On July 26, 1936, the Warren and Champion Township resident took his first flight from Warren Airways (now the site of First Flight Lunar Module) in a Ford Tri-Motor airplane (the Tin Goose). This sparked young Neil’s life-long love of aviation. 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. – Free activities and refreshments for all ages 3 p.m. - Brief remarks honoring Neil Armstrong’s first flight Thirty-three years later on July 29, 1969, history was made when Astronaut Neil Armstrong made his first flight in the Apollo 11 Lunar Module and became the first man to walk on the Moon where he spoke the famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Free and open to the public. |

REMEMBERING OUR FALLEN
Tribute Towers of America’s Fallen from The Global War on Terror NATIONAL TOUR will stop Sept 29-Oct 4 on the Kinsman House lawn. A very emotional exhibit, Remembering Our Fallen will soon be displayed on the Kinsman House lawn to remind Americans of the ultimate sacrifice made by those who died from wounds suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan while wearing our country’s uniform. The memorial includes 35 Tribute Towers with military and personal photos of 5,473 of our nation’s military Fallen from 9/11/2001 to 8/30/2021. This memorial was unveiled nationally at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in late 2017, and has traveled to over 150 cities in 35 states since that time. This is the final year for the memorial to tour America, as it will be retired on December 31, 2026, to rest permanently at a place yet to be determined. This national memorial also includes Tribute Towers that recognize our servicemen and women who died from training accidents or attacks while stationed stateside or on overseas bases. Those who return from war with the invisible wounds of Post-Traumatic Stress and succumb to suicide are also included to recognize the tragedy of PTS. Erin Miller is the proud granddaughter of Elaine Danforth Harmon, a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during WWII. Her grandmother’s last request was to be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
